KLIMPKE, Brian Douglas Klimpke
January 3, 1946 - August 16, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Douglas Klimpke on August 16, 2026, at the age of 80. Brian passed peacefully with family by his side.
Brian was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on January 3, 1946, to Edward and Elsie Klimpke. He spent his childhood on the Klimpke family farm outside Winnipeg and went on to build a career of more than 35 years in the trucking industry.
In 2006, Brian and Vicki relocated to Calgary to be closer to their growing family. Over the years, they built many treasured friendships and became part of a wonderful community.
Hockey was a lifelong passion for Brian. From coaching his children to playing alongside generations of teammates in Manitoba, the game remained constant throughout his life. He continued skating until the age of 77, collecting more stories, friendships, and nicknames than anyone could count.
Brian had a remarkable ability to connect with people. He made friends wherever he went and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. His greatest joy was spending time with family, especially cheering on his grandchildren at the rink, watching their activities on TV, or attending their special events.
A devoted Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Calgary Flames fan, Brian never hesitated to share his enthusiasm. He will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his genuine kindness, and his desire to bring happiness to those around him. Whether known as βThe Briβ, Dad, or Grandpa, he was deeply loved and will forever be remembered as the greatest by those closest to him.
His time after being released from the hospital was incredibly fulfilling. He spent meaningful time with family and friends in Calgary, Manitoba, and Kelowna, reconnecting with many people who meant so much to him. The opportunity to reminisce, share stories, and laugh with loved ones brought Brian immense joy. Surrounded by those he cared about most, he was beaming through it all.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, Ed and Elsie Klimpke.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Vicki; his son Wade (Shannon) and their children Tanner, Darrian, Brady, and Courtney; his son Evan (Mandy) and their children Madisyn, Gabrielle, Nash, and Presley; his daughter Ashley (Harold) and their children Tice and Max; his sister Sandy Chatfield (Murray); his brother Larry (Phyllis); and their extended families.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 1:00 pm,Β located at the Stonewall Legion, 459 Main Street, Stonewall, Manitoba.
