FISHER, Shirley Ann Fisher
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Fisher, affectionately known to her many friends as “Shirley Girl”. Born on January 22, 1942, Shirley passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the age of 84.

Shirley will be deeply missed by her children Heidi Lynn Skau, Theresa Rose-Klyn (Jason) and Jason Rose (Denise); and her beloved grandchildren Tracy-Lynn, David, Daniel, Maria, Jessica (Peanut), Shawn, Terry (TJ), Jessie and her great-grandchildren Baileigh, Aubrey, Xavier, Marley, Tristan and Skyler. She is also survived by her sisters Helene Thompson and Dallas Hilberdink (Joe).

Shirley was predeceased by her beloved partner Roy Douglas Rose, the true love of her life. Shirley adored Roy and spoke of him often with deep affection and gratitude. They were inseparable—partners in every sense—sharing their days, their laughter, and their lives with a closeness that everyone around them admired. Knowing they are now reunited in heaven brings great comfort to those who loved them both. She was also predeceased by her daughter Marlene MacDonald, her son Donald Dupuis, her granddaughter Tamara Lee MacDonald, her parents Jessie and Art Fisher, her brothers Jim Fisher, Doug Fisher, Johnny Fisher, Brian Tweedy, and her sisters Phyllis Perry and Margaret Perry, who welcomed her home with open arms.

Shirley lived a life grounded in quiet strength, kindness, and a love that wrapped itself around everyone lucky enough to know her. She found joy in the simple things like watching birds gather at the feeder, giving a warm home to any animal who needed one, especially stray cats, and noticing beauty in moments most people walked right past. Cats always seemed to find her, and she welcomed them with the same open heart she gave to people.

Shirley became the highlight of your day without even trying. Even in difficult times, she put others first, offering a listening ear, a soft place to land, or just her steady presence. She had a gift for making anyone feel cared for, especially children. Whether they were family by blood or by love, Shirley treated every child as if they were her own and they felt it.

Shirley had a remarkable ability to embrace her inner child and encouraged everyone around her to do the same. Shirley found joy in playfulness, imagination, and laughter, and she made it feel completely natural for others to join her. It was one of the purest, most beautiful parts of who she was; this gentle reminder that it was okay to be silly, to be curious, and to find delight in small, unexpected moments.

She also shared a deep, lifelong bond with her many nieces and nephews. They visited her countless times over the years, drawn to her warmth, her humour, her stories, and the feeling of being truly seen and loved. Each of them carried a unique relationship with her, and they adored her more than words can express. Their hearts are heavy with loss, but full of cherished memories she gifted them throughout their lives.

She leaves behind her loving family, her sisters, her cherished nieces and nephews, and countless friends and extended relatives whose lives are undeniably better because she was in them.

For those wishing to give back in a way that reflects Shirley’s deep love for animals, donations may be made to Peel Animal Rescue Society (PARS). PARS is a volunteer run nonprofit dedicated to rescuing homeless cats and dogs in the Peel region. They have no shelter or paid staff, just a team of people who work tirelessly to save animals, provide foster care, and participate in Trap Neuter Return programs to help reduce stray cat populations. All their work goes directly toward giving unwanted or abandoned animals a chance at a safe, loving life.

Shirley’s legacy is one of love, gentleness, and care. She made the world feel softer and kinder, and her light continues in every cat’s meow, every wagging tail, every birdsong at the window, and in the hearts of those who loved her. Most of all, it lives on through the unbreakable bonds she shared with everyone she knew. Shirley’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Army, Navy & Airforce Veterans Club, 765 Third St, Mississauga, ON L5E 1B8 on Sunday May 3, 2026, between 1 pm and 4 pm.
