FORDYCE, Gary Fordyce
June 14, 1942 - July 4, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Charles Fordyce at the age of 84. Gary was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of over 50 years, a proud father, grandfather, and a man whose greatest sense of purpose came from providing for his family.
He spent much of his career working for CP Rail, a job he truly loved. His passion for the railroad was contagious. His children remember visiting him at work, running through the train yard, climbing the watch tower, and seeing firsthand the pride he took in what he did. With his eldest daughter following in his footsteps, working alongside him.
Even after retiring, he wasn’t content to sit still. He continued working in security throughout the Oshawa area and spent time proudly working alongside his youngest daughter until taking a permanent position as the night guard at BMW.
In his downtime Gary enjoyed walks through the Lynde Marsh, feeding the birds with his wife, and always had a blast watching scary movies with his son.
A lifelong collector, he loved spending weekends at auctions and flea markets searching for records, cards and his favorite; Ontario history books. Some of his happiest days were spent hunting for hidden treasures, often with his wife, daughters and son beside him, sharing in those adventures that became cherished memories.
He believed deeply in hard work, responsibility, and family. Though he wasn’t a man who sought recognition, those who knew him understood that love was often shown through his actions rather than his words.
He leaves behind a wife Sheree, daughters Kate (Jamie),and Kristi, and son Andrew, along with loving grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the unwavering example of resilience he lived.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
