LIONETTI, Francesco

January 1, 1951 – September 11, 2026

francesco lionetti winnipeg mb obituary

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Francesco Lionetti on September 11, 2026, at the age of 74. Francesco was a beloved husband to Franca, father to Maddy Lionetti (Tony Tummillo), Lore Lionetti (Saro Ciresi), nonno to Andreas & Adriano Calheiros, and Sam & Vincent Ciresi, brother to Carmela Scarpino, Angelo Lionetti, and Maria Scicutella (Rafaele), and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.

Francesco was born on January 1, 1952 in Toritto, Bari, and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1970 to begin a new chapter in his life, and to build a legacy for his family.

Being a nonno was one of Francesco’s greatest honours and greatest joys. He loved his grandsons, Andreas, Sam, Vinny, and Adriano, more than words could express, and was endlessly proud of the young men they were becoming. They were his biggest joys, and nothing made him happier than having them by his side. His love for them was unconditional, his pride was endless, and the memories they shared will live in their hearts forever.

Francesco was predeceased by his mother (Maddalena), father (Giuseppe), sister (Giulia), brother (Nicola), brother in laws (Giovanni Battista & Onofrio), and mother and father in law (Vincenza & Carmelo).

Throughout his life, Francesco was known for many things. His delicious focaccia and panzerotti, and above all, his love of cooking, eating, cars, entertaining, and being in the limelight. He was best known for his exceptional talent as a tailor, earning a reputation as one of the finest tailors in Winnipeg during his many years owning Lionetti Clothier. He loved having a full house, surrounded by family, friends, good food, and plenty of laughter. Francesco enjoyed travelling to warm destinations, and recently enjoyed being a snow bird in Florida.

A celebration of Francesco’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue. Condolences at 10:00 am followed by mass at 11:00am. Final resting place at Holy Angel Mausoleum, 1 Green Acres Lane, Narvin/MB.

Although Francesco is no longer with us, his spirit and memories will remain in our hearts forever.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever missed.

Funeral will be broadcasted via the Youtube link.
