Francesco Liuzzi passed away peacefully on Friday September 18, 2026, in his 89th year, with his children by his side at Scarborough Grace Hospital.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rocco and Domenica Liuzzi; his sister, Rosa Patrone; and his daughters, Marian Liuzzi and Elisabeth Bosco.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Ballantyne (Bill); his son, Rick Liuzzi; and Bernabe Bosco, along with their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Isabel Girimonte and her family, as well as his nieces, nephews, their children, cousins, and extended family.
Francesco was born in Ferrandina, Matera, Italy, and came to Canada as a teenager in 1954 to begin a new life. He pursued a career in the electrical trade, becoming a journeyman electrician at the age of 20 and obtaining his master electrician’s licence three years later.
After marrying and becoming active in church, Francesco attended Bible college with the intention of serving full-time in the ministry.
He was the father of four children. His daughter Marian passed away from leukemia at the age of four. In 2018, his daughter Elisabeth passed away following a battle with cancer.
Francesco enjoyed singing opera, fishing, playing golf, and studying history. In his later years, he enjoyed Popeye's Chicken and lasagna and often shared his food with other residents at Shepherd Lodge, where he spent his final years.
The family expresses its appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and nurse practitioners at Shepherd Lodge for the care provided to Francesco, as well as to the staff at Scarborough Grace Hospital for their care during his final hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Special Olympics
Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, ON L4G6W8, CA, on Saturday September 26, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location at 2:00 pm
