Peacefully at Watford Quality Care LTC, Watford on Monday, May 12, 2025, Mathea Henrika Cristina Franssen passed away at the age of 75. Born in Durnin, The Netherlands in 1949, she was the daughter of the late Antonia (VanMeirld) and William Koolen. Beloved wife of the late Albert Franssen (2008).

Loving mother of Francine Franssen, Greg Fransen, Richard Franssen, and Sarah Stephens. Cherished grandmother of Cody, Kortney, and Cameron, and great-grandmother to three beautiful great-grandchildren.

Dear sister of Tony (Rita) Koolen, Gerry Koolen, Mary Mommersteeg, Ann Marie Leyton, Liz (Pete) VanDinther, John (Charlene) Koolen, and Jim (Annie) Koolen. Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Linda Koolen, brother-in-law Cory Mezenberg, and many nieces and nephews.

Mathea is predeceased by her brothers Harry and Dennis Koolen, sister Louisa Mezenberg, sisters-in-law Ivonne and Cathy Koolen, and brothers-in-law Eddy Mommersteeg and Tony Leyton.

Friends and relatives are invited to Blessed Sacrament Church for a funeral mass on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
