FRIZZELL, Joan Frizzell

After a long battle with cancer, God has welcomed Joan home to spend eternity with family and friends in his loving care. Joan passed away peacefully at Chapman House on Monday, November 24, 2025, with family at her side. Born in Hamilton on June 4, 1942, Joan Elizabeth Frizzell (nee Lacey-Fritz) of Owen Sound, was in her 84th year.

Beloved wife of Mack Frizzell. Loving mother of Dan Fritz (Vicki) of Sault Ste. Marie, David Fritz (Sara) of Toronto and step-mother of James Frizzell (Jenn) of St. Catherines. Cherished grandma of Joshua (Mia), Jocelyn (Dan), and Jessie (Evan), and step-grandma of Joshua (Lauren), Sarah, Nicholas, Sydney (Zack), and Liam. Dear sister of Mary Therese Zettler (Don), Jack Lacey (Shirley) and Cathy Annes (Earl). Joan will also be missed by her nieces, nephews and friends.

Predeceased by her previous husband Joseph J. Fritz, parents Bill and Patricia Lacey, siblings Bill Lacey (Jane), Patty, Margie, Ann-Marie, and by many sibling in laws.

Joan was a well respected passionate teacher for over 30 years in local schools. Through her earlier life and into retirement, she enjoyed baking, reading, knitting, traveling and a good glass of white wine with family and friends.

In keeping with Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s & The Missions Catholic Church, 554 15th St. E., Owen Sound, on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Francis Ahuekwe officiating. Reception will follow in the Ladies Lounge at Royal Canadian Legion Memorial Branch 6, 1450 2nd Ave. W., Owen Sound.
