GAGNON, Donald Gagnon

The family announces with great sorrow his (Donald Gagnon) passing in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at the age of 78 years. Beloved husband of Lorraine Gagnon (nee Arsenault) (2008). Loving father of Julie Gagnon-Nidd (Dave) of Ottawa and Steph Gagnon (Tori) of Victoria. Cherished grandfather of Alexandre, Gillian and Karlee. Also left to mourn are his special friend Pauline Roy of Cochrane, his sisters; Lise Daigneault (late Gerry) of Timmins, Denise Vanopdenbosch (late Dick) of Ottawa, and Carole Gagnon (Peni Schwartz) of Ottawa, and his brother Rheal Gagnon of India. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Romeo and Aline Gagnon, and his sister Huguette Miller (Jean Latulippe). Don’s career included McChesney lumber, Malette Lumber and Kidd Creek for the tail end of his career as a millwright. He was an avid golfer and bowler who cherished the time spent on the course and at the lanes, and he found great joy fishing, where he appreciated being outdoors. When at home, Don loved tending to his raspberries and keeping that lawn meticulous. He also enjoyed blueberry picking. Don was nicknamed “MadDog”, but he had a very compassionate side to him, as he always enjoyed helping people. He was also known as the Mayor of Maple St South by his neighbours, and he had some really special neighbours that he absolutely loved and cherished…they were like family to him. As per his wishes, cremation was held, and a memorial service will be held this coming June. Remembrance donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
