She was a dedicated nurse, always enjoyed helping others, working until the age of 70yrs, her family teasing her that she just wanted to go to work to socialize and see what everyone was up to. Her Nursing career spanned over 50 years, from McKellar General Hospital, Nipigon Hospital, Ajax Hospital Emergency, Sklar Peppler Furniture in Whitby, the night nurse at Toronto Star Newspaper, Insurance Physicals, HKPR Public Health Unit, Lindsay CCAC, Clinidata/Telehealth, and Port Hope LHIN. She touched the heart of many , and volunteered for those less fortunate at Bethesda House women’s shelter, and taught her family to give back.
She was an avid reader, loved going to thrift stores for more books, enjoyed walks in the park, and most of all spending time with her family and keeping in touch with those she loved. She loved the time spent at the cottage, and in Ottawa including camping and the slides at the wave pool. She cherished the time spent with her family. She was fortunate to spend time traveling with family to Lake Jeffrey in Bancroft, Ottawa, numerous trips to Florida, Bermuda, Brazil, BC, NB, Alaska, and she enjoyed traveling in style or camping in a tent, and doing day trips and feeding ostriches.
Betty devoted her life to her family, always giving her unconditional love and support.
She cherished her family above all and was proud of them, especially her grandkids. Her love, laughter, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her. Her light will shine on forever in her beloved family.
