September 20, 1945 – September 7, 2026

Gerald Thomas Frederick Airey (Tom) passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Monday September 7, 2026, at the age of 80.

Beloved Husband and Best Friend of Helen (Latimer) for 61 years.  Treasured son of the late Lilyanne (James) and Gerald Airey. Cherished father of Jeff, Suzanne, Scott and Julie.  Loving Grandpa to Brennan, Kristen, Malcolm and Darby, twins Liam and Jacob (predeceased), Caden, Travis, and Crosby.  Loving Great-Grandpa to Nathan, Shayden, Porter, and the one on the way.

Tom was known for many things, but most for his ability to connect with others, those he knew and those he had yet to encounter.  Wherever you found Tom he was talking, sharing stories both past and present. The beauty of Tom was that he listened as well, always wanting to learn and grow, to offer words of wisdom or a helping hand.

Tom was a talented and passionate teacher in his role as an educator at Durham College and as a longtime hockey coach. He had a love for the great outdoors, fishing, hunting, puttering in his garage, and evenings spent cheering on the Montreal Canadiens.  His perfect days were spent by the water with his family sharing love and laughter.

Tom will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.

In keeping with Tom’s wishes the family held a private ceremony at Prince Albert Pine Grove Cemetery where he now rests peacefully. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.    Friends are invited to send condolences and share memories by visiting www.lowandlow.ca.
