GERARDI, Silvia Gerardi

June 6, 1932 - February 19, 2026

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Silvia Gerardi, on Thursday, February 19 at the age of 93.

Silvia was born on June 6, 1932, in the Province of Pordenone, Italy, to the late Vincenzo and Iolanda Turchetto. In 1953, she courageously immigrated to Canada to be reunited with the love of her life, Sergio Gerardi. Together they married and built a beautiful life in Toronto, first on Glen Park Avenue and later, in their cherished forever home on Culford Road.

Silvia was a woman of unwavering faith, deep devotion to her family, and simple, meaningful traditions. She was best known for her warm heart, her famous Sunday ABC soup and veal cutlets, and the love she poured into every gathering around her table.

For over 25 years, Silvia proudly served the community as a crossing guard in front of Maple Leaf Public School and Rustic Bakery. She was known and loved for her dedication, kindness, and the gentle care with which she safely guided generations of children—and even teenagers—across the street, often by the hand.

Silvia is lovingly reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Sergio, and her dear son Albino.

She will be forever missed by her sons Eddie and David (Nina); her adoring grandchildren Jeffrey (Allison), Ashley (Braydon), Sergio, Antonio, Lily, and Ava; and her treasured great-grandchildren Stella, Nicholas, A.J., Tyler, and Austin, who will always remember playing hide-and-seek in the basement at BisNonna’s house.

Silvia is also survived by her siblings in Italy; her sister Resi (Genio), her brothers Mario (Luciana) and Claudio (Rosetta), as well as her brother-in-law in Toronto; Nello (Tina) and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends in Canada and Italy.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her dedicated home care provider, Mila Buyco, for her years of devoted service, as well as to the compassionate staff and caregivers at Bough Beeches Retirement Residence for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Silvia in the final months of her life.

Friends and family may pay their respects at DeMarco Funeral Home – Keele & Finch Chapel on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–9:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard de Clairvaux Catholic Church (1789 Lawrence Avenue West, Toronto) on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.

Entombment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery (7241 Jane Street, Concord).
