GETTY, Maureen Frances Getty
February 27, 1935 - May 9, 2026It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maureen, at her home in St. Catharines, under the tender care of her daughter, Dana. Mom was predeceased by her parents John Thomas McCallum [1967] and Ann McCallum (nee Cornell) [1989], her husband John (Jack) David Getty [2014] her brother, John Thomas McCallum [2015], her sister Carol Ann Bertoia [2021], and her grandson Bryan John Kenny [2022].
Maureen Frances Getty was born in Montreal and grew up in Cote Saint Paul. She attended Holy Cross School and Villa Maria Convent graduating with honours. Maureen was a talented seamstress, turning down a scholarship opportunity, in favour of raising a family.
Maureen is survived by her children Lynda Amzallag (Franklin) QC, Mark [Jaimie] AB, David [Karen] ON, Karen Cameron (Frederick) ON, Deirdre Kenny (John) AB, Dana Getty ON, Laura Dupuis ON; her grandchildren Zachary, Sarah, Rebecca, Prudence, Cody, Lindsay, Margaret, James, Elliott, Clare, Hannah, Cole, Madeline; great grandchildren Max, Colette, Raphael, Chloe, Eli, Emmett, Finn and Bridget; her sister-in-law Huguette McCallum; and her nieces and nephews.
In addition to raising her family, Maureen worked for Smith Kline French in Montreal and, on moving to Ontario in 1976, became a registered insurance agent for State Farm until her retirement.
Maureen was an incredibly loving and caring, mother, aunt, Nana and Great Nana. She was kind spoken, graceful and elegant. Beloved by friends, neighbours, clients and colleagues, she will be missed immensely – especially by her dear friend Gisele, in Two Mountains, with whom she still spoke weekly.
Maureen loved unconditionally and gave generously. She embraced her time spent as a volunteer with Meals-on-Wheels; and, with her ladiesβ quilting group at Grace Anglican Church.
As per her wishes Mom will be laid to rest at CΓ©metaire St Agapit in Two Mountains QC with our father and grandparents.
In lieu of floral tributes, donations would be appreciated to any of her favourite causes – Womenβs Place, Meals on Wheels, Out of the Cold, Community Care.
A celebration of life is planned; however, details are not available at this time.
Those we love donβt go away, They walk beside us everyday
Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved. Still missed. Always dear
