GILBERT, Robert William Gilbert

Passed away very peacefully in Oshawa at the age of 84, with love and acceptance in his heart and his wife of 58 years at his side. Robert had a long and fulfilling career working in sales and cargo at Canadian Airlines, and dedicated his later years to acting as head of security at Parkwood Estate. He spent many meaningful years with the New Tecumseh Shriners, and was a proud Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason. As an avid learner and adventurer, Robert spent his life travelling the world and absorbing all things knowledge, always had the brightest spark when he was sharing stories, and loved all manner of trivia, music, and sports.

Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Lois (Lillian Swan) Gilbert, sister Jacqueline, and granddaughter Melody. Lovingly missed by his wife Elizabeth (nee Green), daughters Vita (Doug), Heather, and Amber, and grandchildren Quinton and Elliott. Robert will always be remembered by many friends and extended relatives in Canada, America, and England.

Many thanks to the incredibly caring staff of the oncology and palliative care units at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, along with Dr. Gordana Popovic A private interment ceremony will be held at his final resting place in Oshawa’s Union Cemetery, with a celebration of life to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can kindly be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
