Ernest (Ernie) Gillespie passed away peacefully at home on April 14, 2025, at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Lillianne, with whom he shared 57 loving years together. Loving father of Lisa (Warren), Anne (Steve), and Paul (Danielle). Cherished Papa of Emily, Mark (Krissy), Leanne, William, Christopher (Nicole), and Julia. He will be greatly missed by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roland and Norma and their extended family. Ernie was predeceased by all his siblings, George, Tom, Mary, Elizabeth, and Doug.
Ernie was born and raised in Port Whitby and lived in Oshawa and Whitby his entire life. He was a proud General Motors employee for 40 years. He loved golf, baseball, running, and being a Papa to his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A special thanks to the staff of the Livita Centennial Retirement Residence where he spent his last five years.
A celebration of life will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West on Saturday June 7, 2025, with visitation starting at 9:30 AM. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 10:30, followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Parkinson Canada.
