GLAZIER, Josephine Florence Glazier
May 25, 1937 - March 7, 2026
Affectionately known to everyone as Joey, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 7, 2026, at the age of 88.
Joey was born on May 25, 1937, in Scotland to William Stanton (deceased 1968) and Mary Dynan (deceased 1944). She was the eighth of nine children in a lively and close-knit family. She is survived by her youngest brother, Mike, and was predeceased by her siblings Bill, Tony, Pat, Bernie, Sally, Mavis, Bridie. She was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law Bonnie (Gordon).
In 1956, at just 19 years old, Joey made the courageous decision to move to Canada, beginning a new chapter of her life. Soon after, while working at Bell Canada, she met her lifelong partner Keith.
Joey and Keith were married on March 7, 1959 and spent an incredible 67 years together. They built a loving home and raised their three children: Gordon, Heather, and Ian. They lived in Scarborough, where Joey created a warm and welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and creativity.
Family life was the core of Joey’s heart. One of her greatest joys was the cottage on Stoney Lake, where she helped create decades of cherished memories. Known for her strength and determination, Joey never shied away from the heavy lifting, often found moving boulders and logs or spending hours painting and landscaping. She brought that same tireless energy to their homes in Scarborough and Florida, always working to improve the spaces where her family gathered.
In the 1980s, Joey and Keith began spending winters in Florida, eventually staying for several months each year. Florida became one of Joey’s happiest places, where she built several long-lasting, meaningful friendships.
Mom was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved sewing, quilting, and crafting, and expressed her creativity in countless ways. She enjoyed photography, travel, gardening, swimming, exercise classes, mahjong, and shuffleboard. She was deeply committed to volunteer work, spending many years volunteering at the hospital and making hundreds of chemo hats for patients in need. Mom was happiest when she was helping someone!
Joey had a wonderful ability to connect with people and made new friends wherever she went. Quick to smile or laugh, mom was spunky, spirited, helpful and kind. She was fun to be around.
Mom loved celebrating life’s moments, especially holidays like Halloween, which she approached with great enthusiasm. She was famous for her witch costume, a memory many still smile about today.
Later in life, Joey continued to impress family and friends with her ingenuity and ability to learn new skills. She embraced technology to further her interests in crafting and digital photography and most of all used technology to stay connected with loved ones at home and around the globe.
Mom was so many things. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. A sensitive, caring and resilient woman with deep devotion to her family. A creative, fun person who loved living life!
Joey will be deeply missed by her husband Keith, her children Gordon (Susan), Heather (Larry), and Ian (Corinna), her grandsons Cameron, Malcolm, and Owen, and the many friends whose lives she touched. We are grateful for the wonderful memories we will cherish forever.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to the caregivers and medical professionals who have been a part of our mother’s journey, particularly in the last few years. Your support, kindness and caring have been truly appreciated.
A private family service will be held at a later date. We invite everyone to share your own stories and memories in the online tribute area at www.aftercare.org/obituaries. If you would like to make a memorial donation please consider the Salvation Army or any charity that warms your heart.
