GOATER, Patricia Goater

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Butternut Manor, Uxbridge on Thursday November 6, 2025, at the age of 99 years.  Dear mother of Susana Cooke (Bradford Cooke – deceased) and Graham Banks (Jan Hemming), and seven grandchildren, Devon Cooke, Shaun Cooke, Matthew Cooke (Eleanora), Alexandra Cooke, Maria Cooke, Sarah Banks (Matthew Alexander Bigelli) and Adam Banks.  Spouse of the late Alan Goater and former spouse of the late Philip L. Banks.

Thank you to the staff at Butternut Manor where she lived well for her last 18 months, and to caregiver Robert McCluskie who was especially good at making her laugh during her time in Uxbridge.

The youngest of five children, Patricia was raised in London, England where her teenage years were interrupted by WWII.  After the war she emigrated to Canada to be married and raise her family in St. Catharines, Ontario and Pointe Claire, Quebec.  Later, she lived in Bournemouth, England, Blantyre, Malawi, Somerset West (Cape Town), South Africa, Qualicum Beach, BC, and North Vancouver, BC. She relocated to Ontario in 2021.

Patricia found it easy to find community, often revolving around her talent as a tennis player (ladies and mixed doubles) and duplicate bridge player.  She was respected as an athlete and competitor and well-loved by all those who came into her world. Patricia also had a love for the English language and a knack for the cryptic crossword puzzle.

In lieu of flowers and donations, please raise a glass in honor of Patrica’s long and full life.  Cremation has been entrusted to Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge.  Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and express condolences at www.lowandlow.ca.
