GOETHALS, Richard “Rick” J. Goethals

Passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, our much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many, Richard (Rick) Goethals, a resident of Tillsonburg, on July 28, 2026, at the age of 70. Rick was born in Tillsonburg, son of the late Joseph Goethals (2016) and Leona (Harvey) Goethals (2022). Rick was formerly of Langton, where he farmed for many years alongside his wife Marianne (Erauw) Goethals, of Tillsonburg. Rick loved riding motorcycles with his friends and long road trips. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and he was always the happiest when outdoors. Rick will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marianne. Together, they raised a beautiful family. Lovingly remembered by their children Jessica Van Loon, of Millbrook and her daughter Emma; Bill Goethals (Melanie), of Fergus and their children Clemmie and Winnie. Rick is survived by his siblings Cheryl Tough (Bill), of Rockwood, Gini (Richard Deveau), of Charlottetown, PEI and by his sister-in-law Dianne Verspeeten (late Alan Verspeeten), of Tillsonburg. Always a caring uncle to Michael Tough (Mia), Joey Tough (Jen); Dustin Deveau (Lawrence), Casey (fiancé Alexandra); Kevin Verspeeten (Anette), Scott Smit (Abby), Marcy Deroo and their families.

In keeping with Rick’s expressed wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service has been held. Later interment in Tillsonburg Cemetery Columbarium.
