Gordon James Bell

It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon James Bell announces his passing on August 12, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Gord was the beloved husband of Geri Bell (Lassaline) and a loving father to Jenn Bell of Sarnia, Mike Bell (Amanda) of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Kevin Bell (Stephanie) of Windsor, and Ashleigh Gauthier (Joe) of Camlachie.

He was a proud grandfather to Tyler (Carmen), Aiden, Elena, Ryker, Paityn, Savannah, Anna, and Ainsleigh, and a cherished great-grandfather to Jaxon. Gord loved spending time with his grandchildren and took great pride in his family.

He will also be lovingly remembered by his sister, Debbie Loveman (Dave). Gord was predeceased by his brother, Ken Bell, his parents, James Bell and Elizabeth Mary Roher (Milt), and his grandsons, Zach and Gabriel.

Born in Weston, Ontario, Gord began his career with Dow Chemical as a Process Operator in Sarnia in 1976. In 1993, he moved to Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, where he continued his career with Dow until his retirement in 2007. That same year, he and Geri moved home to Camlachie.

Retirement did not keep Gord sitting still for long. He later worked at RONA in Sarnia, where he enjoyed helping people, pestering his coworkers and keeping busy.

Gord enjoyed many things in life, including fishing, golfing, reading, music, and karaoke. He especially enjoyed the many memorable nights spent singing karaoke with friends. But above all, Gord loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow.

Gord had a sarcastic sense of humour and was never one to shy away from saying exactly what was on his mind. Those who knew him well will remember his unmistakable personality, his stories, his humour, and the many memories shared over the years.

Gord will be deeply missed by Geri, his children, grandchildren, great-grandson, sister, extended family, and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Emergency Department staff at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, with a special thank you to Gord’s doctors and nurses in the ICU for their understanding, compassion, and dedicated care for Gord and the support of his family during this difficult time.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.

A funeral service celebrating Gord’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home. Following the service, family and friends are invited to join together to remember and celebrate Gord’s life at a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Gord.

The family is grateful to everyone who shared in Gord’s life and for the kindness and support extended to his family during this difficult time.
