
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lyall peacefully at Kingston General Hospital surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Marilyn (nee Darby). His twin daughters Kimberly (Shaun), Erin (Sean) and son Gregory.
Grandchildren Brayden, Alyssa and Jaxon. Siblings David (Barbara), Robert (Sylvie), Joyce and Allan (Brenda). As well as Marilyn’s siblings and significant others and his numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Predeceased by father Ira Gordon and mother Effie Gordon(Middlemiss) and his siblings Helen Feeny(Gordon), Eileen Feeny(Gordon) and Glenn.
Lyall was born in Huntingdon, Quebec where he grew up. He graduated from Durham College, Oshawa in 1977 with a diploma in Aviation Transport and Industrial Technology.
He was a proud member of the Ontario 5 Pin Bowlers Association, and a 26 year board member of the Central Ontario 5 Pin Bowlers Association. Inducted into the Central Ontario 5 Pin Bowlers Association Hall of Fame, in the Builders Category in 2016.
Lyall was an avid sports enthusiast (Toronto Blue Jays, Montreal Alouettes, Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Raptors). As an everyday handyman, his grandchildren’s slogan was “If Grandpa can’t fix it, no one can.” He was quick with a joke, good for a laugh and always ready to dance. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew him. A visitation will be in Brighton, Ontario at Rushnell Funeral Home on Monday, March 16th, 2026 from 2pm – 5pm. Followed by a visitation & funeral service in Brampton, Ontario at North Bramalea United Church on Tuesday, March 17th from 10am – 12pm with funeral and light luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local Royal Canadian Legion or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the Kingston General Hospital Cardiac ICU team and General Surgery ICU team for their loving care of Lyall while he was in the hospital.
