Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Erie Shores HealthCare – Leamington, Josephine “Jodie” Gottfried passed away at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late George “Hap” Gottfried (2022). Loving mother of George Jr., Steven, Anne (Paul) McGuire, and Paul. Cherished grandmother of Shaemara Gottfried, Rebecca (Ben) Goldstein, Kateri (Peter) Tough, and Monica (Philip) Orlando. Proud great-grandmother of Talin, Liliana, Zoey, Gabriella, and Quinn. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Mary and by her siblings Franky and Georgina. Jodie will be remembered as a devoted homemaker, a treasured wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. She dedicated her time for many years to the Sacred Heart Social Committee, she was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women’s League, and was always willing to lend a helping hand through ushering the congregation, washing vestments, reading during for church services, and serving as a eucharistic minister. She was known to offer help with whatever was needed. Her benevolent spirit was apparent through baking for others, volunteering her time with meals on wheels, and bringing joy to all as Mrs. Claus. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home – London Line Chapel, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 1465 Lecaron Ave., Sarnia, on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
