GREGORCHUK, Josephine Gregorchuk

With grace and dignity, our beautiful mother, the cornerstone of our family, was called home to walk with the angels and into the loving hands of our Lord, surrounded by her devoted family at the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

We take comfort in knowing that Josie is now reunited with her beloved husband Harry Sr. and her parents, Walter and Annie Mateja.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed by her children Cathy (friend Sylvain), Harry (Sari), Wally (Tracy), Rick (Marisa), and Melissa (Chris).

Josephine Gregorchuk was a proud and loving gram and cherished “Bestie” to Kayla, Cory (Shannon), Chris (Crystal), Sarah, Matthew, Megan, Tristan, and Aiden. She was also a devoted great-gram to McKayla and Morgan.

Remembered by her loving brother, Joseph Mateja (late Lorraine) and a special aunt to Michael, Joanne (Richard) and Stephen.

Josie was a special friend to many, including the dedicated staff and caregivers of the March of Dimes, with whom she formed many lasting friendships over the past 10 years. Our family is forever grateful for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided throughout her journey.

Josie was a strong and patient woman who lived a long and fulfilling life with love, compassion, and quiet strength. Even when faced with life’s greatest challenges, she met them with remarkable courage, resilience, and grace. Her kindness, generosity, and the countless memories she created with family and friends will be treasured forever.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Sault Area Hospital ICU and 3C for their compassion and care.

Friends and family are invited for a time of fellowship and reception at the Grand Gardens North (1324 Great Northern Rd) on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We welcome all who knew and loved Josie to come together to share memories, offer condolences, and celebrate a life well lived. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the March of Dimes Sault Ste Marie or the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Fund.

As mom wished, please don’t remember her with tears. Instead, remember her through the laughter, the love, and all the crazy and happy times we shared together. That is how she wanted to live on in our hearts.
