GRESLEY, Nancy Marie Le Gresley
October 6, 1934 - July 4, 2025It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Marie Le Gresley of Newcastle, Ontario. Nancy passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering on July 4th at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband, Farncomb, her parents, Gordon and Clarice Wonnacott of Oshawa, and her siblings William Wonnacott, Jeannine Rensink, and Robert Wonnacott. Nancy was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends including her beloved children—Trish Kimmerly (Scott), Sarah White (Brian), Joanne Baarbé (Johannes), and Katherine/Kathy Le Gresley—as well as 23 grandchildren, 13 (soon to be 15) great grandchildren, her sister, Sue Smith (Andrew) of Lindsay, her many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family, and her cherished grandcat, Beully.
Nancy was a humble, gracious, and compassionate woman, overflowing with generosity and full of love. She had a beautiful connection with children and enjoyed many years as a Cub Scout leader, a Pioneer Girl club leader, a Bible Club leader, and a Sunday School teacher. Ever creative and full of fun, she had such a great sense of humour and always kept us laughing with her imaginative ideas and funny remarks. She was also a great cook, well known for her yummy oatmeal cookies, her famous apple pies, and—in years past—her intricately decorated wedding cakes. Playing the piano was a special joy for Nancy which led to her long-standing position as organist of St. Martin’s Anglican Church in Courtice. What a sad day that was for her when she had to give it up.
The most important thing to Nancy, though, was her faith in God. Jesus alone was her refuge and strength and the glorious source of her hope. She was at peace when she bid her family and friends goodbye because she knew that she was going to be with Him. Valiant to her final breath, she led by example, inspiring all who knew her to cling to Jesus and dedicate themselves fully to Him. She leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.
Visitation will be held at Newcastle Funeral Home on Saturday, July 19 from 10am to 12, followed immediately by her funeral service at the same location and interment at Bond Head Cemetery on Queen Victoria Street. Memorial donations may be made to Heritage Christian School in Lindsay or St. Martin’s Anglican Church in Courtice.
