He passed away peacefully, with his wife and daughters at his side at Port Perry Place on Sunday May 10th, 2026. Much loved husband of Joan (nee O’Neill) of 61 years. Cherished father of Lori and her husband Jeff Birchard of Kingston, and Kerri and her husband Craig Hudson of Enniskillen. Adored and proud grandfather of Quinn, Sierra, Devon, Blake and Reese. Dear brother of Paul and his wife Nina and the late Helen and her husband Lorne West. Dear son of the late Ted and Vera Grills.

Donnie Grills was born and raised in Cannington where he and Joan raised their family, farmed and operated Grills Brothers dairy cattle business along with his brother Paul. Donnie and Joan retired, downsized and relocated to Port Perry in 2009. Described as fun loving, loyal, and of strong faith, he lived a full and happy life enjoying Saturday night dances, snowmobiling, golfing and winters in Florida.

We would like to extend our thanks to the wonderful staff at Port Perry Place for their care and compassion shown to Donnie and his family during his time there.

The family of Donald Grills will receive friends at theΒ WAGG FUNERAL HOME,Β 216 Queen Street in Port PerryΒ (905-985-2171) on Saturday, May 16thΒ from 1 – 2 p.m. A Service to celebrate his life will be held in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Private Interment Cedar Vale Cemetery, Cannington at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region or the Port Perry United Church.
