After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Ike Groenwold remained joyful in affliction, grounded in his unwavering faith and hope in Christ. On Saturday, July 5, 2025, with his beloved family at his side, the Lord called His child home at the age of 54.
Ike was the cherished husband of Heather Groenwold (née VanMiddelkoop) for 31 years. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. He will be deeply missed by his children, Anna, Scott & Alana, Andrew & Jaclyn, Breanne, and Ryan & Helana, and his grandchildren, Luke, Elizabeth, Kiara, Hudson, and Lena, who knew him as a loving and steady presence, always pointing them toward grace and truth.
Ike will be remembered by his dear mom, Susanna Groenwold, his siblings, Carl & Janet, Maaike, Jane, John & Wilma, Betty, Judy Vandekemp, and the late Harry. He is also survived by his in-laws: JoAnne & Menno Werkman, John & Martha VanMiddelkoop, Cindy VanMiddelkoop-Webber, Lynda & Ted Schouten, Jason & Lynn-Ann VanMiddelkoop, Carmen & Gerald Harke, Rob & Stephanie VanMiddelkoop, Ingrid & Peter Schuller, and many nieces and nephews. Ike will also be fondly remembered by his second family, the team at Modular Transport Canada.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at ATTERCLIFFE CANADIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 85948 Canborough Rd., Dunnville, where the Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will precede the Service at 10:00 a.m. at Melick Cemetery, 8069 Canborough Rd., Dunnville.
