Jean was a passionate life-long educator who touched the lives of many students, and loved to reminisce about her time in education. She began her teaching career in her hometown of Maxville in a one-room schoolhouse at the age of 18. After marrying, she and Johnny settled in Whitby where they raised their family and she spent the majority of her career teaching at St. Theresaβs Catholic School. In retirement she, along with a few other teacher friends, enjoyed working with older adults with disabilities.
Jean was an avid sports fan, who especially enjoyed watching the Blue Jays and curling. Jean never gave up on anything except this year’s Maple Leafs.
Jean loved her family and spending summers beside the backyard pool. She was always available to help with her grandchildren in any capacity required. She had a thriving social life until her last days.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bloom and PSWs, Dr. McGarry and staff and all of Jean’s friends for their support. We would also like to express our gratitude to Carrie for her brilliant mind and great care; Jean always considered Carrie her guardian angel.
Following Jeanβs wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Her family will be celebrating Jean’s life this summer.
Donations to Diabetes Canada, or The Canadian Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
