HEATHCOTE, Harvey George Heathcote
February 19, 1947 - July 17, 2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harvey George Heathcote in his 80th year.
Harvey lived a life filled with passion, sportsmanship, and a deep love for family. In his youth, he was an avid hockey player, embracing the game with enthusiasm and dedication. Later in life, he became a devoted golfer before discovering another lifelong passion as a horseman.
Harvey found great joy in carriage driving and spent many memorable years with his beloved Welsh pony, Sara. Alongside his daughter, Jennifer, he proudly competed in carriage driving events throughout Canada and the United States, creating cherished memories and friendships that lasted a lifetime.
His career in computer programming spanned the entire evolution of the field, from enormous mainframes and punch cards to laptops. Harvey helped build many programming systems for Toronto hospitals and major corporations.
A man of strong will and spirit, he approached the many challenges he faced with determination, and when he was entrusted with a job, it was a job well done.
Above all, Harvey was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dianne Heathcote (née Sheppard); his daughter, Jennifer (Jonathan); and his treasured granddaughters, Izabella and Margaret, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
Harvey’s kindness, quiet strength, love of sport, and passion for horses will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will live on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.
