Helen Huber

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Huber (née Lawther) on August 15, 2026, one day shy of her 80th birthday.

Helen was born in Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland on August 16, 1946, to the late Annie and Samuel Lawther. She immigrated to Canada on December 6, 1966, settling in Ottawa, where she married and raised her family. Often missing her birth home, she loved sharing memories and stories of growing up with her brothers and sisters in Belfast.

She is survived by her husband, Werner, and their beloved children, Erwin (Jen), Christopher ‘Chrissy’ (Ginger), Brendan (Kathryn), and Yolanda (Trevor). She was the cherished granny to Tristan, Remi, Kaity, Alexis, Sammy, Finn, Patrick, Aunna, and Matthias. Helen is much loved and will be dearly missed by her sisters, Joyce and Carol. She is predeceased by her brothers, Andy and Billy, and her sisters, Valerie and Eileen.

Please join the family at Pinecrest Remembrance Services (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) on August 28, 2026, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm for a Celebration of Life.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sara Moore of Oncology and the nurses from the 4th Floor East team at the Ottawa General Hospital for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a story, share a laugh, and raise a glass in her honor.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal.
