HIGGINS, David Higgins

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Higgins, who died suddenly on 13th November 2025 at the age of 59 in Toronto, Canada.

Born 21st May 1966, and raised in Scotland, David was a guy of distinctive edge and style whose life was a soundtrack to the music he adored. An accomplished musician, David spent years as a guitarist and lead singer in bands. He had a lifelong passion for movies and possessed an encyclopaedic mind for everything about cinema. (Yet he never missed a Celtic game and loved everything CFC!)

David was outgoing and enjoyed the company of many friends; he possessed a gift for good conversation, but was also known for his sharp wit and his distinct inability to suffer fools. He faced his own challenges in life with a resolute spirit.

After emigrating from Scotland over three decades ago, David built a successful career in advertising, bringing his unique perspective and sharp eye to his work.

David is survived by his loving ex-partner, Lisa. He leaves behind his brothers, Euan and Roddy; his nieces, Elizabeth and Annie; and his nephew, Ronan, who will deeply miss their cool Scottish uncle who lived in Canada.

David’s presence will be profoundly missed, but his vinyl collection and the legacy of his genuinely unique spirit will live on. He will be remembered every time a favourite record is spun.

A celebration of David’s life for friends in Toronto will be held at McVeigh’s on 14th December 2025.
David’s ashes will be returned to his hometown of Shotts, Lanarkshire, in Scotland, where following a service at St Patrick’s Church he will be buried alongside his beloved mum in the Spring. Specific details will follow at a later date.
