HOLMES, Charlene Gale Holmes

It is with heavy hearts that we remember the life of Charlene Gale Holmes, who left us peacefully on June 24, 2025, in her 67th year, at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital in Toronto, ON.
Beloved wife of Solomon Webster. Loving mother of Walter Anthony Holmes (Carla), Graydon Tisdall (Jennifer), Jarrod Alexander Holmes (Viktoria), Justus Adam Holmes (Ashley) and Samuel Ethan Webster Holmes. Cherished grandmother of Madison, Rhylee, Kiah, Kaiya, Atreju and Jarrod Jr. Great Grandmother of Lucy, Malani and Aria.

Gale was born in Sydney, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia to the late Frank Edward Holmes Sr. (1997) and the late Sheila Alexandra McKenzie (1996). She was the beloved sister of Frank Holmes, Thomas Holmes, Bruce Holmes, Linda Tindale (nee Holmes), Geoffrey Claydon and Candis Tetreault. Predeceased by her older brother Gary Holmes (2021) and younger sister Debbie Holmes (1961). Chosen sister to her dearest friends Cathy Naseiro, and Mary Leonard, who stood by her unwavering through her battle with cancer and life. Also, her chosen brother, brother in-law Graeme Tindale, who was always the calm in the storm.

Gale was a woman of strength, grace, and kindness who lived by her own rule book in life. Those who knew and loved her will remember her for her love of roller skating, dancing, her infectious laugh, her free spirit, her love for sunshine and sandy beaches and most importantly, her children, grandchildren and more recently, great grandchildren. Gale’s ability to reminisce in great detail and story tell of times past, was always something she enjoyed sharing with others.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in the memories she leaves behind — in the laughter shared, and the love that continues to surround us because of her. She lived her life with tenacity, love, and a freedom to be unapologetically her.
Her legacy is one of love a love that touched her family, friends, and all who crossed her path. She will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.

To celebrate Gale’s life, a memorial service will take place on Saturday July 19, 2025 at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church in Toronto at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Palliative Care unit at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, would be greatly appreciated.
