HUNT, Amy Yvonne Hunt

She went peacefully home to Heaven on July 28, 2026, after a courageous and grace-filled journey with cancer.

Born on May 21, 1979, in Mississauga, Ontario, Amy was the beloved daughter of Albert Joseph Hunt and Helen Yvonne Hunt (née Streeter), both of whom predeceased her. Her greatest joy, deepest purpose, and proudest accomplishment in life was being a mother to her beloved children, Katie (26) and Austin (11). They were the center of her world, and she treasured every moment she spent watching them grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and faithfully cheering them on through every stage of life—whether from the hockey stands, the baseball field, or simply by their side. Her love for them was steadfast, sacrificial, and unconditional.

Amy Yvonne Hunt is also survived by her siblings, Valerie Lockwood and Jason Hunt. Amy was cherished and lovingly supported by her “Aunty” Stella Hunt, and by “Mama” Rose and Patrick Klygo, her mother’s best friends, who became like parents to her. She was dearly loved by the Klygo grandchildren—Aidan, Sean, and Mac—and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Amy was also blessed with the close friendship of Samantha Chandler (Groves) and David Brown, who quickly became like family and remained faithful sources of love, encouragement, and support. She will be dearly missed by them, along with her many other treasured friends and church family.

Amy was fiercely loyal to those she loved and she remained steadfast through every season of life. She had a remarkable ability to find something to be thankful for and a reason to laugh, even in the midst of life’s greatest challenges. She was known for her quick wit, contagious laugh, and generous hugs, all of which reflected the joy she brought into the lives of those around her.

Shortly before her cancer diagnosis, Amy surrendered her heart and life to the Lord. She faithfully attended and served alongside her brothers and sisters in Christ at Beacon Baptist Church, where she was recently baptized as a public declaration of the faith she had so joyfully embraced. Those who knew Amy witnessed a remarkable peace and steadfast hope that carried her through the challenges of cancer as she faithfully pointed others to the One who had changed her life.

Though our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice knowing that Amy is no longer in pain but is at home with her Lord and Saviour. Her life stands as a testimony that even in the midst of suffering, God’s grace is sufficient and His promises are sure.

Hydrocremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life for Amy will be held at Beacon Baptist Church in Welland on Saturday, September 12 at 10am.

Amy often found comfort in the promise of resting safely under the shadow of God’s wings. It is with that same hope that we say goodbye, trusting that she is forever in His presence.
