IFURUNG, Fely Mendez Ifurung

Passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on February 15, 2026. After 58 years of unwavering devotion, she is now reunited with her “Fred,” who preceded her in death by only twenty-six days.

Born in Pangasinan, Philippines in 1940, Fely lived a life defined by grace, nurturing strength, and a deep-rooted love for her family. She was a woman of elegant spirit and boundless generosity, known for her radiant smile and a welcoming nature that made everyone who entered her home feel like they belonged. She was the devoted daughter of the late Cornelio Mendez and Ceferina Abella Mendez.

Fely was the cornerstone of her family and the beloved wife of Fred, to whom she was a constant source of light and support. She was the loving mother of Larry (Lisa), the cherished Lola of Aaron, Byron, Aiden, Gabrielle, and Jacob, and the proud great-grandmother of Kale and Gabrielle.

She found her greatest joys in the quiet rhythms of home—gardening, cooking for those she loved, and her extraordinary gift for sewing. A true artist with a needle and thread, Fely possessed the rare talent to recreate entire bridal entourages and executive dresses just by looking at a picture. Her hands were rarely still, as she spent countless hours creating beauty for her family and friends. Alongside Fred, she was a dedicated fan of the Raptors and Blue Jays. Her family will forever cherish the memory of her sitting by his side, enthusiastically shouting “Shoot!” at the television during the most intense moments of the game.

The impact Fely left will not soon be forgotten. Her spirit lives on in the garden she tended, the masterful dresses she meticulously crafted, and the profound love she planted in the hearts of her children and grandchildren.

After fifty-eight years of walking side by side, she has finished her final chapter here to begin an eternity where she belongs—resting peacefully, once again, in the embrace of her Fred.
