IRWIN, Theodore John William “Ted” Irwin
October 7, 1949 - May 22, 2026With heavy hearts we share the passing of Theodore John William Irwin, better known as βTedβ on Friday May 22, 2026 at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.
Ted was a beloved man whose life was filled with music, laughter, friendship, and a wonderfully unforgettable sense of humour. He was an Elvis fan through and through, he had a great memory, a quick wit, and a gift for turning ordinary moments into something memorable. He was full of smiles, and he carried himself with the kind of cheerful energy that made people feel glad to be around him.
Ted is survived by his brother Rick and wife Pat who he loved deeply. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (1992). He valued people close to him, and he showed that in the simple, honest ways that mattered most. Ted was the kind of person who could make you feel like you were part of the joke, even when he was the one delivering the punchline. He had a big, deep cackle that could roll through a room like a comedy soundtrack, and once you heard it, you did not forget it.
Ted was funny, humorous, and always ready to tease people in a way that was more playful than anything else. He loved playing tricks, and he had a talent for keeping people on their toes. If there was a chance to surprise someone with a harmless prank or a clever remark, Ted was usually already two steps ahead and grinning about it. He enjoyed the reaction almost as much as the setup, and that was part of his charm.
Ted spent his working career at Arc Industries and also has been apart of the Community Living for a long time. There he found connection, support and companionship and he was grateful for all the new people and friends he has met. The support workers who cared for Ted were part of the network that helped him live with comfort and dignity, and their efforts made a meaningful difference in his life.
Though his family circle was small, Ted was deeply loved by countless friends and support workers whose lives were made brighter by knowing Ted.
