John David “Dave” Burden died unexpectedly on September 18, 2025, at the age of 76. His family marks the first anniversary of his death with love, gratitude and many cherished memories.
Dave is deeply missed by Esther Burden, his wife of more than 52 years. Their shared faith, devotion and ability to face life together remained central to their marriage, and he especially enjoyed making Esther laugh.
He was a devoted father to Matthew Burden and Joylynn Burden (Adam Hook), and a loving grandfather to Caden and Titus. His grandsons remember watching cartoons with him, feeding chipmunks and sharing his interest in woodworking, including projects they built together.
Dave is also remembered by his brother, Don Burden (Kelly), as well as nieces, nephews and friends. His family recalls his generosity, quick wit and dry sense of humour.
A dedicated Christian, Dave encouraged his family to live by their faith. Although he lived with chronic pain, he remained determined and active, often working on a building project or planning the next one. During sleepless nights, he used the time to pray for others.
His family continues to honour the example of strength, commitment and love he gave them, and the legacy he left through the many lives he touched.
