MAYBERRY, John Thomas Mayberry

September 28, 1944 - January 5, 2024
MAYBERRY, John Thomas Mayberry

If it were up to John, he would tell us to keep this simple.

Though he exuded natural charisma and sharp business sense, he was, above all, a humble man with a kind heart.

John was born in Brantford, Ontario, and died peacefully, in his 80th year, after a brave struggle with Parkinson’s disease on Friday, January 5, 2024.

He grew up simply, and worked hard, every day, to build a better life for his family after marrying his high school sweetheart, Susan, in 1967.

Together, they raised three children, Michael (Tanya), Jeffrey (Nicky) and Jo-Anne (Mike).

John was the most loving father, but his eyes beamed brightest with his nine grandchildren, Maddie (Greg), Patrick, Liam, Ashley, John, Jacob, Lilly, Sarah and Dillon; and his great-grandson, Bodhi.

John was predeceased by his two sisters, Eleanor and Marilyn; and will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephew, many friends and former colleagues.

He treasured the great people of Dofasco and the community of Hamilton, who inspired him throughout his celebrated career in the steel industry, which spanned four decades.

A compassionate leader to the end, John taught us all to listen more, give often and always put people first.
