STANNERS, John “Ian” Lindsay Stanners

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John “Ian” Lindsay Stanners on January 4, 2024, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Beloved husband of Carol (Hartley) for 52 years, loved father of Paul (Shannon) and Heather (Aaron), all of Burington. Cherished grandfather of Kailyn, Ryan and Taylor.

Dear brother of Bruce Stanners (Ruth) of Owen Sound.

He will also be sadly missed by his aunt, Beth (Allan), cousins, nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, and his caring neighbours in the community of Villages of Brantwell. Ian touched the lives of everyone he met.

He had a long, distinguished career with the Molson-Coors Beverage Company. Ian had a second career in teaching with the Siebel Institute of Brewing (Chicago) for over 10 years.

Ian was a dedicated member of the Maple Grove United Church of Oakville.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Joy and Pearl (PSWs- Home Instead) who provided compassionate care to Ian during his final weeks.

Visitation at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington, on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Maple Grove United Church in Oakville on January 20th, at 2:00 p.m.
