Born May 20, 1947 in Glenboro Manitoba, survived by is wife of 55 year Linda (Purvis), his daughter Jennifer and son Arni. Father in law to Scott Barkey and Yvonne Josephson. One of a kind Afi to Owen Barkey( Jill), Ben Barkey, Erik Josephson( Logan) and Emma Josephson.
The youngest of 4 children born to Laura and Oscar Josephson (predeceased), He will be remembered by brother Gerry Josephson (predeaseased) ( Eleanor) his Sister Norma Jones ( Gary) and Jim Josephson ( Deanna). He will be missed by all of his brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He acquired the nickname Beazle when he was very young and it stuck, most people only new him this way. He enjoyed all things sports… devoted fan of the Detroit Red Wings, although he was known to hop around during the playoffs to whatever team was winning at the time…. except the Toronto Maple Leafs he would never cheer for them, although watch all their games and enjoyed seeing them loose.
He spent some of his childhood in Manitoba before moving to Cannington where he met countless lifelong friends, attend Brock High School he met Linda Purvis and they began their life together. They moved to Pefferlaw 50 years ago where they remained their entire marriage. His entire carrier was spent with the Toronto Fire Department starting out on flying squad going hall to hall, then to Yorkville, Grosvenor Street ending his career at Forest Hill where he retired as a Captain after 35 years of service.
In his younger years If you were ever looking for him in between shifts at the hall you could find him at one of his favorite places the Irish House in Jackson Point later the Mansion House where he spent time with friends. Some of his best buddies gathered there. To this day he remained life long friends with those whom he grew up with. Weather it was from his days with the Cannington Generals to tournament teams or his fast ball days with the Irish House A’s , lots of time was spent travelling around watching him play. He was a fierce competitor hated to lose and was always up for an arm wrestle.
One of his most loved places was Welcome Lake he enjoyed many trips over the years with family and friends to this little piece of “Gods Country.”
Even though he had fallen ill in the last little bit he never lost that stubbornness that we all had gotten use to over the years., he was never one to be told what to do!!
The family wishes to invite you to celebrate the life of Beazle on Friday Aug 22, 2025 from 4-8pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Cannington.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a charitable donation to The Brock Community Health Centre – Seniors Programming or a charity of your choice in his honour.
