It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Spomenko Josipovic at the age of 70. Born in Bosnia to the late Ivo and Kata, Spomenko made the journey to Canada in 1981, where he built a life filled with love, friendship and joy.
Known to many as Spo, he was a light-hearted and easygoing man who made friends wherever he went. He loved telling stories and had a natural gift for bringing happiness to those around him. From a very young age, Spo had a deep passion for motorbikes, especially his beloved bike Beauty, which remained one of his greatest joys throughout his life. He loved sports, nature, and truly embraced life to the fullest.
As the seventh child, born on the 7th of July, his favourite number was 777, a small but meaningful detail that reflected the unique spirit he carried with him throughout his life. Spo deeply loved Canada and was grateful for the life he built here. Spo was a devoted husband to his wife Mara of 11 years and a loving father to his daughter Spomenka and her husband Tyler. He was a proud and loving ‘Dada’ to his granddaughter
Katarina. He was also a cherished grandfather to Aleksandar, who shared a special bond with him and will forever carry his lessons, stories, and love in his heart. Spo was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and will be dearly missed by his extended family and countless friends.
Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the light he brought into our lives will remain forever, carried in our hearts, spoken in our stories, and felt in every memory of him.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church on Friday, December 19 at 11:00 a.m.
