Passed away peacefully at Oshawa Hospital on August 30th, 2026, in his 81st year.
Born on December 17, 1944, in Šintava, Slovakia, Jozef immigrated to Toronto in the fall of 1968 via England, where he began building a new life founded on hard work, determination, and devotion to family.
Jozef Jedinak was the beloved husband of Maria for 55 wonderful years. Together they built a loving family and a home filled with warmth, tradition, and lasting memories.
A skilled industrial maintenance electrician by trade, Jozef was equally at home working with his hands outside of his profession. He was known for his passion for what he fondly practiced as his own unique brand of “Barbarian Farming.” He took great pride in raising a variety of farm animals – beef cattle, pigeons, chickens, ducks, and geese, while also cultivating a large productive and carefully tended garden.
Jozef was a gifted craftsman and preserver of family traditions. He delighted in making homemade sausages, salami, hurka, headcheese, bacon, and other artisan wood-smoked meats. He also enjoyed producing and consuming red wine and traditional distilled fruit spirits, including slivovica, hruskovica pálenka, sharing his creations generously with family and friends.
He was a proud and devoted father to his three sons: Joseph (Martina), Steve (Lisamaria), and Rob (Carissa). His greatest joy was being a grandfather to Joey, Lukas, Mikey, Harrison, Danika, and Oliver, each of whom brought immense happiness and pride to his life.
Jozef will be remembered for his strong work ethic, resourcefulness, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. His legacy lives on through the values he instilled, the traditions he preserved, and the countless memories shared by those who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A celebration of life to follow at a later date.
