KAMSKI, Stanley Lawrence Kamski

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Stanley Kamski, who died suddenly and peacefully on Monday, August 25, surrounded by family, after nearly three days in critical care at Markham-Stouffville Hospital.

Stan lived a life rooted in faith, service, and love for his family. He worked for over 22 years at TD Bank in the International Chief Accountants Department before moving on to be Treasurer and a Board member with the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies for 14 years. As a member of the parish review team for the Archdiocese of Toronto for 17 years, he ensured parish funds were handled with integrity. He was also a pillar of the community who selflessly gave countless hours to volunteering: serving with honour as a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, and as an usher, Eucharistic Minister, lector, Parish Council and Finance Committee member, Youth Group leader, Stewardship Committee member and collection count team member at St. Patrick’s Parish and Blessed Frédéric Church. He was delighted last month to attend a tree-planting ceremony to recognize his dedicated service for 25 years as a Board member for Robinson Street Not-for-Profit Homes.

Stan loved people, and people loved being around him. He had a gift for making others feel welcome – whether throwing parties during his TD days, hitting the bowling lanes, or enjoying a round of golf with friends. He was always willing to help – driving a friend to treatment, preparing meals for the Good Shepherd, or simply sharing a joke to brighten someone’s day.

Above all, Stan was a devoted family man. Married for 57 years to his beloved wife Gloria, they were inseparable companions, enjoying long walks at Milne Conservation, playing games, or chatting together at home. He was overjoyed to be surrounded by family two weeks ago at a picnic in Belleville, playing euchre, sharing a meal and lots of laughs.  He was the loving father of Michelle (Tim) and Steve (Jennifer), proud grandfather to Elisabeth, David, Christopher, Cameron, Julia and Nathan, brother to Joanne and Chester, and uncle to Danielle, Ashley, and Evelyn. He was predeceased by his brother Edward, his sister Josephine Donata, mother Stephanie and his father John. He will be deeply missed by his brother-in-law Robert, sister-in-law Jennifer, extended family, and many friends.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate team at Markham-Stouffville Hospital, especially Dr. Buchan and the nursing staff in the critical care wing for their outstanding care and support during this difficult time.
