It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Kelly Raven, who passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, with her family by her side.
Kelly Bell married the love of her life, Gord Raven, on April 5, 1986, with their son, J.R., proudly standing by their side. Shortly after, they welcomed their second son, Bryan, completing their family.
For 401/2 years, Kelly and Gord shared a life filled with love, family, laughter, adventures, and more than a few colourful conversations. On August 28, Gord had to say goodbye to not only his wife, but his soulmate, best friend, and life partner. Kelly was the daughter of Gloria and Dan Bell. Mother of son’s J.R. (Caitlin) and Bryan (Kristie). Sister of Shane (predeceased), Sheldon (Jackie) and Shawn (Deb).
Sister-in-law of Shawn and Cheryl.Grandmother to Nathaniel (Goob), and William (Will).
Great grandmother to Brooks. Aunt to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Grandmother to the four-legged grand dogs – Daisy and Rosie and the newest addition Fred.
Kelly Jo Raven had a passion for power boat racing and was a proud member of the Ontario Power Boat Racing Association (OPBRA). She was a familiar and much-loved presence at the races, where she made it her personal mission to keep owner Brent Valois in line—affectionately, and often, referring to him as “f****** Brent.”
Kelly was also one of the biggest supporters of Becky Valois, an avid racer herself. She never hesitated to cheer Becky on and firmly believed in her, regularly reminding Gord:
“Becky is going to win.”
She was equally passionate about supporting the family race team, the Raven Lunatics, and could always be counted on to be there, cheering, encouraging, and making sure everyone knew exactly what she thought.
Kelly touched the hearts of more people than she will ever know. She had a way of making herself heard, making people laugh, and making sure the people she loved knew exactly where they stood.
Those who knew Kelly will undoubtedly remember some of her most memorable—and very colourful—expressions: To Gord: “No f**** boat.”**
To Kristie and Bryan: “You are f**** keeping him.”**
And to J.R., with the confidence that only Kelly could deliver: “I f**** got this.”**
These words, her laughter, her determination, and her incredible personality will live on in the memories of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
Kelly leaves behind her beloved husband and soulmate, Gord; her sons, J.R. and Bryan; her family; and countless friends and racing family who will forever miss her presence.
She was one of a kind. She was fiercely loyal, endlessly supportive, wonderfully outspoken, and deeply loved.
Kelly, you will be missed more than words can say.
