Passed away peacefully September 2, 2026 surrounded by his family at Ed’s House, Cobourg, Ontario. Born September 22nd, 1943 in Chatham, Ontario to the late Edward and Helen (Newcombe) Goodall. Known to friends and family as ‘Ken’, ‘Grandpa’, ‘Kenny G from 303’, ‘Sammy’, ‘Uncle Ken’ and ‘Dad’, he always had a smile and was open to a friendly conversation with everyone.
Ken leaves behind his three sons and daughter-in laws, Darryl & Rose (Belvedere), Jason & Zoie (Rolfe) and Ryan & Fran (Neubert), as well as his sister Marilyn Gray and her family. He will be greatly missed by his granddaughters Amanda, Alexandria, Danielle, Hayley, Keira and Emily, along with a number of nieces and nephews and their respective families.
Ken joins his predeceased partner and love, Lee-Anne (Paine), married on June 3rd, 1967. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ted and Wayne.
Ken embraced being raised on a farm in Kent Bridge, Ontario and was active with the 4H Club as a boy. With Lee-Anne and his young family, he fulfilled his dream of owning a farm along the Thames River. Ken and Lee-Anne made the bold move to leave the farm and move to Haliburton with 3 young boys in 1978. There he worked several jobs from school bus driver, forester, maintenance manager, and park construction foreman before he settled down with a delivery role at Haliburton Lumber for two decades. During his semi-retirement, he worked in a maintenance role at a local summer camp.
Ken was actively involved in the community. He assisted with his sons’ baseball and hockey teams, and became an active Scout Leader, staying on with that organization for a number of years after his sons left the program. Ken and Lee-Anne were foster parents for three girls during their time on the farm. He was a Mason for 61 years, primarily at the North Entrance Lodge in Haliburton, where he was active in both his lodge and District, holding several leadership roles. In 2014 he was appointed Grand Stewart by the Grand Lodge, an achievement he was extremely proud of.
During his retirement years, Ken and Lee-Anne enjoyed some great travel experiences with friends and family. He also took up the game of golf and was active in the winter on the hills at Sir Sams, and as a member of The Highlands Festival Singers.
The family would like to thank the wonderful support he received over the recent years as he went through his dementia journey. This includes the teams at Victoria Order of Nurses Adult Day Program, the staff at Palisade, the various doctors and nurses at Northumberland Hills Hospital, the staff at Ed’s House, the team at The Geriatric Assessment and Intervention Network (GAIN), the PSWs at Ontario Health, Dr. Obomighie and personal support companion Tanya Ritchie.
A joint Celebration of Life for Ken and Lee-Anne will be held on Saturday, October 10th 1pm – 4pm at the Best Western, 930 Burnham Street, Cobourg.
