KIPPERT, Iris Karin Kippert

A remarkable woman and exceptional artist, Iris Karin Kippert passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, August 5, at Bluewater Health at the age of 59. Raised in Sarnia, Iris’s adventurous spirit led her to live in Greece, where she met her husband and raised her children before returning back to Canada. Art was a daily part of Iris’s life, and she poured her creativity into photography and mixed media pieces. She was a passionate reader, an enthusiastic thrifter, and a collector of tea cups. Known for her humour and deep compassion, Iris spent many years battling cancer with immense strength and grace. Beloved wife of Sakellarious Platsis. Loving mother of Pavlos Platsis and Gunther Markos Platsis. Cherished grandmother of Sakellarios Nikolas Platsis and Kostantinos Ioanis Platsis Treasured sister of Nicole Kippert. Adored Aunt to Thalia Platsis, Maria Platsis,Maria Gkinnis, Paulina Gkinnis, Savvas Gkinnis and Liva Kippert. Deeply loved by her family and friends, Iris leaves us with memories of love, art, and laughter. We will forever hold you in our hearts. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1299 Murphy Road, Sarnia, at 11:00 am. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
