KOTSOPOULOS, Mrs.Noula Kotsopoulos
September 14, 1938 - March 4, 2026
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Athenoula (Noula) Kotsopoulos, who left us on March 4th, surrounded by family.
Born on September 14th, 1938 in Amyndeon, Greece, Noula was the much adored daughter of Pandali and Aphrodite Pemas. In 1957, she travelled by boat to Canada and married Peter in Hamilton, Ontario. The first of her family to come to Canada, Noula was soon joined by her parents, older brother Danny and younger sister Mary. The family moved to Toronto, where she worked various jobs in the service industry. Noula found support and formed friendships with her coworkers, many who were also recent emigrants. Her outgoing personality and desire to help others transformed many of these early friendships into lifelong relationships.
When the first of three daughters was born, she dedicated herself to family. Caring for her husband and children gave her tremendous satisfaction and her passion for cooking and baking was matched only by her ability to raise three children and keep the house spotless! As her daughters grew and married, she welcomed three sons into the family, and became Yia Yia to 5 grandchildren. She spent many days watching over her grandchildren, and home was the location for family get togethers and holiday celebrations. Noula’s homemade pita was always served, and she made sure there was always enough for everyone to take home for tomorrow.
From early in life, Noula loved to sing and dance and would often perform for family and guests in Greece. She found great joy with any opportunity to dance at the many Greek functions she attended with her beloved husband Peter. Singing along to traditional Greek music while enjoying the outdoors filled many of her later days and although she never travelled back to Greece, she remained proud of her heritage.
She will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind. Carrying her memory in their hearts everyday are daughters Helen, Freda and Jeanny(Chris), grandchildren Peter(Karen), Joe(Stephanie), Mary, Noula(Chris)and Eleni(Djordje) and great grandchildren Nikos, Aris, Charlotte, Hudson and Levi. She will be forever cherished by her sister Mary(John) many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was reunited in rest with her parents and loved ones who passed before her, including her loving husband of 40 years Peter, son in laws Jimmy and Sam and brother Danny.
A celebration of life will take place at Highland Funeral Home, 3280 Sheppard Avenue E, Scarborough, with a visitation Sunday March 8th from 1pm – 5pm.
Funeral will take place at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 3840 Finch Avenue E, Scarborough, Monday March 9th at 10am. Interment and memorial luncheon will follow at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
In memory of Noula, donations may be made to Childhood Cancer, reflecting her caring spirit.
Though she has left us, the love she gave and the memories she created will be eternal.
