Lawrence Basil Laevens

June 14, 1954 – October 20, 2025

Smiling older man with gray hair and mustache.

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence “Larry” Basil Laevens, who left us peacefully, surrounded by family.  Larry was predeceased by his father, Lawrence Bernhard Laevens (2015).  He is survived by his beloved mother, Magdaline “Maggie” Margaret Laevens (née Nemeth); his sister Linda; his brothers Paul (Darlene) and Kenneth; his cherished sons Allan, Michael (Mysti), and Nicholas (Victoria); and his treasured grandchildren Tyson, Remi, Donovan, and Rachel, who brought him endless joy and pride.

Larry lived a life full of curiosity, adventure, and devotion to family. In earlier years, he delighted in scuba diving, antiquing, and nurturing his love of coins and tokens. Later, he discovered the joy of ballroom dance, embracing its rhythm with the same enthusiasm he brought to all his pursuits.  Above all, his greatest passion was the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, who were the heart of his world.  His memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love he gave so freely.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dwayne D. Budgell Funeral Home.  In accordance with Larry’s expressed wishes, cremation has already taken place.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Society, or a charity of your choosing, in Larry’s honor.  A time and place for a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Online condolences and donations may be made at www.budgellfuneralhome.ca
