LAMM, Andrew Lamm

passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on December 15, 1933 in Magdeburg, Germany. He was known by many names – Andrew, Andy, Andre, Andreas, Papi, and Opa – and he lived a rich and meaningful life surrounded by the love of his family and friends. His warmth, humour, and generosity shaped countless memories that will be treasured by all who were fortunate to know him.

Honouring his memory are his beloved wife, Mary Woodside; his children: Oliver Lamm and his daughter Veronica; Alexander Lamm, his spouse Taseyah, and their children Naraya and Avalyn; Monika McKinney, former spouse Robbin McKinney, and their children Sasha and Dominic; Natasha Mural, her spouse Dean, and their children Marley, Levi, Wyatt, and Pippa; Nicholas Lamm, his partner Allison, and their newborn daughter Hazel; and Ryan Murphy, his spouse Andrea, and their daughters Hailey and Lindsay. Andy’s family will forever remember his wit, kindness, and the joy he brought into their lives. Andy also had two wonderful sisters, Vera (partner Dieter Marschke) and Dagmar and her husband Winrich Weller (both deceased).

Andy had a deep passion for both the outdoors and the arts. He found joy and freedom in swimming, bicycling, running, skiing and orienteering, often competing well into his later years.

A lover of adventure, he also enjoyed motorcycling and capturing the beauty of the world through photography. Andy was a life member and judge of the Don Mills Camera Club and later the Whitby Seniors Photo Club. His love of photography was witnessed in his many awards.

When he wasn’t on the move, Andy could often be found immersed in a good book or listening to his favourite music. He also attended the Toronto Symphony and Tafelmusik. His pursuits reflected his insatiable curiosity and zest for life.

Those who knew Andy understood his gentle nature, witty sense of humour, and his smile. Throughout his life, Andy was very successful in his career in sales, usually the top salesperson throughout the many companies that he was employed at. Athletically, he excelled in orienteering, running, triathlons, and cycling with many podium finishes and trophies. This same competitiveness and courage astounded us as he bravely fought to stay positive until his final days.

Born between two Great Wars, Andy has shared his memories of living in Germany, Austria, and England and the history of his ancestors in Russia with his family. He emigrated to Canada in 1954 with his mother Anya and his sisters, Vera and Dagmar.

Andy has been an advocate of assisted dying (MAID) and he embraced this decision fully and completely with support from family and the amazing hospital staff.

Donations to Lakeridge Hospital Oshawa Palliative Supportive Care Unit would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life is planned for early summer for his family and friends.
