LANG, Ernie Lang

Passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 9, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born in Austria on Monday, June 25, 1934, Ernst Alois Lang of Owen Sound, was in his 92nd year.

Beloved husband of the late Mary Lang (nee McFadden). Proud father of Lynita Spencer (Steve) of Annan, Karen Steinberg (Bob) of New Hamburg, and Jennifer Lang (late James Wandler) of Shelburne. Treasured Opa of Michael Spencer, Robert and Thomas Wandler. Loving brother of Edi Lang (Traude) and Helmut Lang, and brother-in-law of Dennis McFadden (Sharon). Ernie will also be affectionately missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family and wonderful friends, who treated him as one of their own.

Predeceased by his parents Franz (1976) and Maria Lang (1993), and his brothers Franz Lang (1944), Josef Lang (2023) and his sister Maria Decker (nee Lang 2009).

Ernie was an active and well-loved member in his community; he will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He had various responsible jobs throughout his life, but his passion was his Bakery. In his earlier years, he bred various birds, dogs and horses. He was a member of the Kinsmen Club (Parry Sound) and the Gardening Club (Owen Sound). He volunteered at the Owen Sound Animal Shelter, for G.R.A.C.E. Horse Therapy, and the Sydenham Sportsmen’s Assoc Fish Hatchery in Owen Sound. Ernie loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He would often be found in his garden tending to his many beautiful flowers. He loved to share his knowledge. His most passionate hobby was riding his horses, which he did into his late 70’s.

In keeping with Ernie’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Shelburne Cemetery.
