LANNON, Wayne Arnold Lannon

July 5, 1948 - May 12, 2026
LANNON, Wayne Arnold Lannon

He passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at home, very quickly and without any pain. Exactly how he would have wanted it.

Wayne wanted to be remembered as a good provider for his family, wife Marilyn, son Larry and his wife Lynn, daughter Lori and her husband Darren MacEachern, and his two favourite grandchildren, Abigayl Lannon and Cole MacEachern.

He took immense pride in his role as the cornerstone of our family. Whether through his tireless work ethic or his steady presence, he provided a sense of security that allowed those around him to succeed. He never asked for or desired recognition, seeing his family safe and happy was his only requirement. To him, being a ‘good provider’ wasn’t just about hard work, it was his way of saying ‘I love you’ every single day.

Wayne Arnold Lannon was born July 5, 1948 in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Arnold and Jenny Lannon (both deceased). He was the first of eight siblings and is survived by; Allan (Geri) Lannon, Wendy Chandler, Kathy (Bob) Stevens, Brenda (Keith) Bodine and Greg Lannon. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Joanne Roach and brother in law Barry Drabuik. He was predeceased by his sister Janet Drabuik, brothers-in-law Dennis Lambert and Phil Chandler, father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Martha Krauss, and a sister who died in infancy.

Wayne started working for Scotiabank right after high school, moving across the province of Alberta in his role as Branch Manager, with his last branch manager posting in Thorhild, AB. He returned to the Westlock, AB branch as a Commercial Relationship Manager before retiring after almost 40 years with the bank. He took tremendous pride in his work but the things that always meant the most to him were the community that he was part of and the team itself, the people he worked with. The branch became family, not only to Wayne but to Marilyn, Larry and Lori as well. He spent part of his β€˜retirement’ years working for TPH Rentals in Westlock, though it’s never been clear how much work was actually happening as the days seemed to be full of talking, coffee, and donuts β€˜with the guys’.

After moving from Alberta to Ontario, Wayne and Marilyn had a full social calendar. There was volunteering at the Salvation Army Food Bank, Probus Club of Oshawa events and meetings, volunteering and events at the 420 Wing Oshawa, and time up at the trailer on Buckhorn Lake funeral home BARNES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME . Wayne was always keeping busy, and was rarely one to sit around. Though when he did, there were always plenty of stories and laughter.

In addition to his family, Wayne will be remembered fondly by his friends, fishing buddies, hunting partners, fellow Rotarians, and a host of nieces and nephews who all held a special place in Uncle Wayne’s heart.

Details of a celebration of Wayne’s life will be shared shortly. For those who wish to honor Wayne’s memory, the family suggests donations to the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society Durham Region Animal Centre
