He went home to his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on March 15th, just one day short of his 85th birthday at the Wingham Hospital.
Son of the late Webber and Lillian Lazenby.
Survived by his loving wife Mary (Lewington), loving dad and “pop” of Jennifer Macdonald, Robert Lazenby and Nancy Lazenby and granddaughters Alexandria (Tayler) Blackburn, Adrienne (Justin) Golem and Gabrielle (Will) Vodden. Greatly missed by his great-grandchildren Noah, Amelia, Charlotte, Kingsley, Eloise, Maisie, Atlas and Dante. Also survived by his sisters Jean (Robert) Thornton and RuthAnn Jackson, sister-in-law Gloria Lazenby and brother and sister-in-law Ern and Annette Lewington.
Predeceased by sister Margaret Tucker, brother Donald Lazenby, and brothers-in-law Tom Tucker and Steve Jackson.
An avid baseball fan, Doug enjoyed both playing in his younger years and then watching his favourite Blue Jays team with Mary at his side. Growing up on a dairy farm in the Woodstock area, Doug enjoyed farming alongside his dad. When his farming days were done, Doug’s working days as a professional truck driver then began for the next 30+ years. The loads Doug delivered took him many miles from family but allowed him to see many places across North America and listen to countless hours of Gospel music. He was greatly missed at home during these times. Miles of memories were accumulated from the passenger seat by family members wanting to share in his travelling adventures and were never left doubting his ability to “turn that rig around”.
Visitation will be held at the McBurney Funeral Home on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A private family funeral service will be held. Interment will take place in the spring at Wingham Cemetery.
