November 2, 2025
passed away peacefully, on November 2nd at 98 years old, leaving behind a legacy of love, music, and devotion to family.
Born inΒ Koslin, Germany, Christa immigrated to Canada in search of new beginnings. It was there she met the love of her life, Ernest, with whom she shared 54 beautiful years of marriage until his passing. Together, they built a life rooted in love and purpose, eventually settling in the village of Columbus, where they raised their three children. Christaβs kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and unforgettable aromas. She delighted family and friends with her mastery of traditional German cuisine, crafting dishes that carried the flavors of her homeland and the love she poured into every meal.
Christa was a devoted mother toΒ Michael, Randy (Colleen), and Claudia (Bruce), a proud grandmother to Liberty, Krista (Andrew), Darren, Everett, and Ryan; and great-grandmother to Trent and Ellis. She was a loving sister to ArnoΒ Knop (Ann), and the late Charlotte and sister in-law to Maria Theresia Kromer-Hatch.
A passionate animal lover, Christaβs home was always open to furry companions in need of care and affection. Her love for music was equally profoundβshe found solace and joy in the melodies of classical compositions and spent countless hours at the piano and guitar, filling her home with harmony.
Christa was also a dedicated community leader, serving as past president ofΒ the Oshawa Unitarian FellowshipΒ , where she championed inclusivity, compassion, and thoughtful dialogue. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering spirit touched the lives of many.
She will be remembered not only for her many accomplishments but for the kindness she extended to all, the music she shared, and the love she gave so freely.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Parkinsonβs Foundation or a charity of your choice, in honor of Christaβs generous and giving nature. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
