With broken hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Lindsay Griffin (née Lyons) on November 1, 2026, at the age of 47.

Lindsay lived a life defined by love, kindness, and resilience. Whether as a wife, mother, teacher, colleague, or friend, she gave her time, energy, and heart to others. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering determination left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Family was at the centre of Lindsay’s life. As the beloved wife of Trevor and devoted mother of Liam and Kaylee, she found her greatest joy in supporting and celebrating those she loved. She poured her heart into her family and found her greatest happiness in supporting her children in everything they did. Whether at the hockey rink, on the baseball diamond, or along the soccer sidelines, Lindsay was always there, cheering them on, celebrating their accomplishments, and encouraging them through life’s challenges. She taught Liam and Kaylee to believe in themselves, advocate for themselves and others, face adversity with courage, never give up, and always lead with kindness. Through her example, she showed them the importance of having strong character, big hearts, and respect for everyone they meet. Her love, support, and unwavering belief in them shaped their lives in countless ways.

Lindsay is lovingly remembered by her husband, Trevor; her children, Liam and Kaylee; her mother, Georgia Lyons (née Blacklock); her brother, Blair Lyons, his wife Chantel, and their son Kaeleb; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Mary Kay Griffin; her brother-in-law, Kyle Griffin, his wife Amy, and their children Tavish and Taiya; and her sister-in-law, Breanne Griffin, her husband Matt, and their daughter Lyla.

She will also be deeply missed by her extended family, many friends, colleagues, former students, and the countless members of the school, sports, and community circles whose lives she touched.

She was predeceased by her beloved grandmother, Dorothy “Nan” Blacklock, whose love, guidance, and support helped raise Lindsay and played an important role in shaping the woman she became.

Lindsay was also blessed by the love of Cindy Crosbie and Cindy Van Vlack through Big Brothers Big Sisters. What began as a mentorship became a lifelong family bond. They were family to Lindsay in every sense of the word, remaining a constant source of love, friendship, and support throughout her life. Their love and guidance helped shape Lindsay’s life and ultimately led to her meeting Trevor, with whom she built the family she cherished most.

A passionate educator, Lindsay dedicated more than two decades of her life to teaching, beginning her career in 2003. She spent the majority of her career, nearly twenty years, at Allan A. Greenleaf Public School, where she became a beloved teacher, trusted colleague, mentor, and friend. As a French teacher working primarily with students in Grades 6 through 8, she had a special gift for connecting with young adolescents during some of their most important and formative years. She was known for her commitment to her students, her willingness to help others, and her ability to bring people together. She became a trusted friend and valued colleague to many within the school community, often serving as the person others turned to for support, advice, and encouragement. She especially loved being involved in school musical productions, helping create experiences and memories that students would carry with them for years. Allan A. Greenleaf was more than a workplace to Lindsay. It was her second family.

Those who knew Lindsay will remember her as someone who made people feel welcome, valued, and cared for. She never missed an opportunity to help someone. Whether it was a student needing encouragement, a colleague needing support, or a friend needing a listening ear, she was often the first person people turned to and the last person to ask for anything in return. Her warmth, positivity, and genuine interest in others created lasting friendships and touched countless lives.

Over the past two years, Lindsay faced breast cancer with courage, resilience, and grace. Her journey was marked by many twists, turns, and setbacks, yet she continued to face each challenge with determination and hope. She was motivated above all by her love for Liam and Kaylee and her desire to spend as much time with them as possible.

In her final days at Carpenter Hospice, Lindsay was surrounded by love and compassionate care. She passed with the same grace and dignity that defined her life.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and healthcare
professionals at Joseph Brant Hospital, Juravinski Cancer Centre, and Carpenter Hospice, whose skill, compassion, and unwavering support meant so much to Lindsay and those who loved her.

Lindsay’s legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the students she inspired, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness, compassion, and unwavering strength. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Lindsay’s memory may consider a donation to Lindsay’s Legacy Education Fund, established in support of the future education of Liam and Kaylee and reflecting the importance Lindsay placed on education, learning, and opportunity. Donations may also be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Carpenter Hospice in recognition of the care, support, and compassion they provide to individuals and families. Any remembrance made in Lindsay’s memory would be sincerely appreciated.
